How to Sprout Your Seeds

Step 1: Soak your seeds. Add your chosen seed packet to the jar, fill with water and cover with a kitchen towel. Let soak for the recommended time listed with your corresponding seed packet below.

Step 2:  After soaking for the recommended amount of time, drain the water from the jar and place it on the stand at a 45 degree angle with the top side down, place the stand on a dish to catch any drips, and cover with a kitchen towel. This will allow proper drainage and airflow.

Step 3:  Rinse your seeds. Depending on the seeds you’ve chosen, they must be rinsed with fresh cool water at least twice a day. Simply add water to the jar, swirl around for a moment, drain, place back on the stand and cover.

Step 4: Expose to light. Depending on which seeds you’ve chosen, you will want to expose them to indirect light on the last day of sprouting to give them a chance to produce chlorophyll. Simply remove the cover. Direct sunlight is not recommended.

Step 5: Harvest & Enjoy! You’ve been patient & nurturing, now it’s time to reap the benefits. Check out JackalopeSeeds.com/recipes for some delicious recipe ideas.

Organic Sprouting Broccoli:

Recommended Seeding: 20g per 32oz Jar (our packets are pre-measured to 20g)

Initial Soak: 4-6 Hours

Rinse Frequency: 3-4 Times Daily

Days to Harvest: 5-7

Prime Nutrients: Sulforaphane, Vitamin A, B-Complex, C, E, Potassium, Phosphorus, Calcium, Magnesium, Fiber, Chlorophyll

Broccoli is a small, soft-shell seed requiring a brief 4-6 hour soak to begin germination. It is temperature sensitive and germinates slower in winter than summer. Sprouting broccoli is also notorious for the very healthy, but very pungent, phytochemical sulforaphane which develops an unmistakable sulfur-like odor by day 4-6. Rinse 3-4x daily with cold water to keep broccoli sprouts clean of its robust smell as well as other metabolic wastes and carbon dioxide. Keep away from windows, vents, doors and any environmental factors that may affect temperature. Keep your jar in a dark cool place or covered with a kitchen towel while sprouting until day 5.. Broccoli will sprout 3-4” long in its 5-7 days of growth and will require about 12-24 hours of sunlight before harvesting.

Organic 5 Seed Sprouting Blend (Alfalfa, Lentil, Mung Bean, Radish, Broccoli):

Recommended Seeding: 20g per 32oz Jar (our packets are pre-measured to 20g)

Initial Soak: 4-6 Hours

Rinse Frequency: 2-3 Times Daily

Days to Harvest: 5-7

Prime Nutrients: Sulforaphane, Vitamin A, B-Complex, C, E, Potassium, Phosphorus, Calcium, Magnesium, Fiber, Chlorophyll, Protein, Zinc, Iron, Omega-3

This blend is simple, low maintenance, and easily sprouts with just 2-3 daily rinses. Although broccoli’s pungent odor may not be as apparent when sprouted in a mix, be sure to rinse thoroughly with cold water to rid sprouts of metabolic wastes, carbon dioxide, and organic decay from germination. Alfalfa, broccoli, and radish all thrive and taste best when grown in the dark for about 4-5 days and then receive full light on about day 5-6. Harvesting by day 6-7 will develop a more pronounced radish flavor, whereas harvesting at 4-5 days will leave the radish not nearly as spicy and matured. The amount of sunlight exposure will affect flavor.

Organic Bean Sprout Blend (Adzuki Bean, Green Lentil, Mung Bean, Daikon)

Recommended Seeding: 40g per 32oz Jar (our packets are pre-measured to 40g)

Initial Soak: 6-8 Hours

Rinse Frequency: 2-3 Times Daily

Days to Harvest: 3-4

Prime Nutrients:  Protein, Fiber, Calcium, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Potassium, Manganese, Iron, Zinc, Vitamin C, B-Complex

This Bean Sprout Blend features a simple and perfectly balanced blend of mild, nutty legumes with the light zesty kick of radish. Allow your seeds to presoak for 6-8 hours to give adzuki extra time to soften and keep even germination with the softer seeds. Be sure to rinse 2-3 times daily, and cover from light during the 3-4 day growth. Although radish is a 5-6 day sprout reliant on sunlight for chlorophyll, it boasts a far milder note when kept in dark and enjoyed by day 3-4. The genius of this blend is that the radish sprouts don’t get to fully mature to their 5-6 day potential, keeping them mild, tempered, and even sweet when paired with pleasant lentil, mung, and adzuki. Bean Sprout Blend may even be enjoyed as early as 2 days for a quick legume sprout or as late as 5 days for more developed radish spice.
